He would still frequently travel to New York and visit David Abercrombie's store, and by 1900, he had purchased a large share of the business. By 1904, they would become known as "Abercrombie and Fitch Co." Ezra wished for the company to become increasingly more public, while David did not wish for this to happen, instead wanting to keep it for the elite. Abercrombie sold out to Fitch in 1907, and with that, Ezra Fitch expanded the company with large success.

Josiah Hasbrouck was born March 5, 1755, in New Paltz, the son of Jacob Hasbrouck Jr. and his wife, Jannetje DuBois Hasbrouck. His father served as a major in the American Revolutionary War and as the town supervisor of New Paltz (1762–1765, 1771–1776). Josiah would serve as supervisor of New Paltz as well, from 1784 to 1786, 1793 to 1794, and 1799 to 1805. In between his second and third terms, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1796 to 1797, and again in 1802 and 1806. After garnering enough support and continuing to grow their families, the Huguenots set out to find a desirable land that they could call their own.

They found an area 15 miles south of Kingston, New York, where they had resided for a short time but found that the constant squabbles with local Native Americans made it difficult to function. The Tower was a joint Federal and State project and a special commission was created to oversee its' planning, design and construction, with then-Secretary of War Robert Todd Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's son, chosen to lead it. The commission selected architect John H. Duncan to design the monument, who would later go on to design Grant's Tomb. Duncan briefly considered an obelisk, but as the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Was languishing in construction limbo for over 30 years, he instead settled on the current design. The Club Room, located in the main building of Hasbrouck House, offers a stylish lounge for guests to gather for cocktails, conversation, games or to simply sink into a chair with a good book. Upstairs, the master bedroom opens out on to that expansive terrace and features a black marble encased shower and two huge walk-in closets with high-end Poliform glass-fronted wardrobes. This suite also includes a separate private bedroom with a queen size bed. This Classic Suite is on the ground floor of the Carriage House, just behind the main building with it's own private entrance. Hop on the Trailways Bus and arrive into the small town of Phoenicia, where the house is just a 5 minute walk from Main Street. Walk into town for meals, or prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner in the beautiful kitchen and dining area. The trailhead for the Tanbark Trail is walkable from the house, as is the beautiful Esopus River for fishing, tubing, or just taking a cool-off dip.
Built-in 1757 as the country estate of the wealthy Hasbrouck family, this iconic stone mansion maintains its charm and continues to draw locals and visitors to the bucolic town of Stone Ridge three hundred years later. The former Stone Ridge Inn was purchased by co-owners Akiva Reich and Eitan Baron in 2015, who lovingly restored and transformed it into Hasbrouck House, a luxury boutique hotel that opened in summer 2016. Their goal was to keep the property’s rich history while modernizing the space for a complete luxury experience. The Hasbrouck House Heritage Suite is a two-bedroom suite on the 2nd floor of the main building. It features one bedroom with a queen size bed and a bedroom with a queen size daybed and fireplace facade.

The Hasbrouck family were French Huguenots who fled persecution in France by moving to Germany,[citation needed] and then the United States. Two brothers, Jean II and Abraham, are the ancestors of almost all individuals in the United States with the last name "Hasbrouck," or some variation. Celebrations take place on our 4,000-square-foot bluestone patio, which can accommodate up to 150 for ceremony, cocktail, dinner and dancing.
